His lifestyle. His rules.

Is she willing to risk her heart to play his game?

Guitarist Cole Hayes learned early that falling in love is the easiest way to lose. Determined never to go down that road, he sealed his heart off, numbing himself with erotic and sensual pleasures--with men and women alike. The rules were simple group sex only and never one-on-one.

It’s all so simple until he meets Devon Bannister, the beautiful director shooting the documentary on his band. Suddenly, she's all he can think about. Neither can deny the attraction and desire between them.
Although Devon is open to exploring Cole's lifestyle, for the first time in his life, he finds himself reluctant to share.

How can he own all of her, if he's only willing to give half of himself?

I tend to avoid reading rock star romance for the sole reason that the heroe tend to be manhoes. They usually have smex with groupies including after meeting the heroines and that is never romantic nor desirable to me. Rather it is a turnoff. It is even worse if they don't use condoms when smexing OW because the image of them being walking STDS pops into my mind.

However I was willing to read this story because I read reviews that stated that this was a "safe" book for me, meaning Cole stopped having smex with OP after meeting the heroine Devon. It was true and I was happy that I read the story.

This story is a standalone. I did not need to read and did not read other books in the series to understand what was happening and keeping the characters straight. Each book has a different hero and heroine with the prior and future heroe and heroines making occasional appearances. I could not put the book down. I read it in one sitting. Cole, who is bisexual, is an interesting character for many reasons. For one he was only willing to have smex if at least two other people are involved. He felt like if there was more than one person doing it then he would not become attached and fall in love. If Cole never fell in love then his heart could not be broken.

While I don't tend to read rock star romances for the reasons stated above I believe the fact that Cole being bisexual was atypical as well as his reason for telling himself why he wanted OM to give him oral pleasure. It his belief that men are better at it because they have the same equipment and so he usually discouraged or outright refused to allow OW from giving him oral. However he was not willing to let OM give him anal smex. I have no idea that if the limits that he placed on himself of what sexual things that he would do with OM was common or not with men who were gay or bisexual. What I did think was contradictory to his beliefs was that he was fine with being sexual withhis bandmates who he was extremely close to. He stated and acted like it on countless occasions that they his family. He already loved his best friend who he grew up with and was like a brother and so engaging in sexual acts with his best friend , who has his own book, would risk Coke feeling even deeper emotions for him, including possibly falling in love with his best friend. It seems illogical to me that while he feared getting his heart broken and thus avoided one on one physical contact he was willing to love his best friend without fear of losing him.

In his sexual encounters with OP he was never jealous or possessive which makes sense because it would not be enjoyable to have group smex if he experienced those negative emotions.

One of the things I loved about his relationship with Devon is that he broke all his rules with for her as well as his responses to her were different. For example he felt jealous and possessive around her and while he initially fought feelings those things he felt sick when other attractive men touched. I always want my heroes to feel that way about their heroines and so I loved that he had those reactions.

I found Devon likable. She was down to earth and neither an experienced virgin nor a female version of him. She was open minded in that it did not bother her that he was with OM before her. Also she was open to the idea of being with him and OM even though that would be a new experience for her. However I was extremely glad that despite her initially thinking it would be ok to be in a 3 way with him and Cole thinking that he needed to do it, they could not go through with it. Neither wanted OP touching the other. They only wanted each other despite Cole being in total denial the majority of the story.

The sexy times are hot and numerous but don't happen right away. Rather their relationship and the story is given time to build which to me is always a good thing unless the couple waits to have smex until near the end of the story which did not happen here. I was find with the HFN ending given that it is a series. Eventually though I want them to have their HEA ending.

Between Us Renegade Saints Book 3 edition by Ella Fox Vanessa Bridges Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

This right here is my favorite Renegade Saints book!!!! I mean don’t get me wrong because I absolutely loved Flynn and Gavin so very much, but there was just something special to me about Cole’s story.

I wasn’t sure how this book was going to go as the prior books really eluded to this book being a ménage story. I kept thinking to myself is she gonna go for it? Are we really going to have our first Ella Fox ménage couple?! I am so not going to answer that question in this review lol… you will have to read for yourself to find out… I will tell you though, that you will not be disappointed, not even a little bit, with the outcome.

Unlike a lot of the other heroes we read about, Cole actually had a great childhood with wonderful and loving parents and overall beautiful family life. Even still he was a little broken. Albeit, for understandable reasons – make sure to have a box of tissues in hand, but not so bad that the love from the right man and woman or woman or man couldn’t fix though. Isn’t it funny how that happens?! You live your whole life thinking and seeing things one way and then suddenly it makes sense in a completely different way?

What I love most when I read an Ella Fox book is that there is always a deeper meaning amongst all the hotness!!! This book was no different.

“We make choices in life, each one of us. Choose love – always. The idea of losing someone terrifying you is a good thing. It means you feel it deep. The highest high can bring the lowest low – but if you walk in faith, it will always get you by. Take every moment as the gift it is and live.”

True to Ella Fox form, this book packs a punch and has all the feels and then some! And let’s not get me started on the panty-melting factor because no one writes sex quite like Ella Fox can lol…

BTW, thanks for that little cliffhanger, not really, for Tyson!!!!! I cannot wait for the release of his book!
I love words not music so I am not usually drawn to books about rock stars. In real life, the image of rock stars portrayed by the media is often frivolous and self-indulgent, not qualities I find sexy in a man so reading a fantasy about a rock star does not usually appeal. I probably would have overlooked this book as well except I read a review from a reviewer I trust and she loved it, so I decided to give this a try.

Cole being a star does not really feature prominently into the plot. This is more of a character driven story. The death of Cole's best friend's mother when Cole was a young boy and his best friend's father's subsequent temporary breakdown over her death left Cole scarred and scared. Cole decides that the best way not to become dependent on one person is to always have 2 in his life, so he has a rule to only be involved in ménages. Devon comes along and causes him to break all his rules.

This is a pretty straightforward, sweet but steamy hot, romance. It only takes a few hours to read so it is not a serious time investment which is nice. I left the book hoping Fox will give Ian his own story. He is the one Cole initially wanted to add as a third but it never happens. Ian has his own serious issues and I want him to find a love also! The romantic in me wants to see lots of HEA's!!
